The Marr Area

Set in Aberdeenshire, in North East Scotland, the Marr area stretches from Huntly in the North, to Banchory in the South East and across to Braemar to the West.

We operate in the largest of the six areas of Aberdeenshire. Occupying 48% of the land mass but inhabited by just 15% of the population.

About Us

Marr Area Partnership was formed in 1998 by a group of volunteers to help local communities help themselves. The nature of our work has changed over time but the same broad aims apply: we seek to support communities in the Marr area to develop and grow in to thriving, successful communities with secure economic, environmental and social futures.

We are a registered charity and were set up, with the support of Aberdeenshire Council, as a rural partnership recognised by the then Scottish Executive.

Staff
Marr Area Partnership currently has a Management Committee made up of volunteers who meet bimonthly to review the work of the organisation. Applications for our Initiative Grant Scheme are put to the Committee for their approval. Copies of the committee meeting minutes are available for you to read. Our Annual General Meeting is held in September each year, when Management Committee members are elected/re-elected. Copies of the AGM minutes are also available for you to read.
We are currently in the process of becoming a company limited by guarantee and have the support of over 50 members who will have the right to attend and vote at our Annual General Meetings. The Management Committee will be replaced by a Board of Directors, who will have similar responsibilities and roles. You can find out further information about how the organisation will be structured and managed by reading our Memorandum and Articles of Association. To become a member of MAP, all you need to do is fill in a Membership Form.
