The Marr Log Bank has operated across three winter seasons (2022-25) and is preparing for season four.
This innovative project has been made possible over the years, thanks to funding support from The MacRobert Trust, Cairngorm Trust Community Led Vision Fund, and the Aberdeenshire Charities Trust.
Using a local wood processing yard to log, bag and store donated timber, and volunteers to distribute it to individuals and hubs across Marr, we work with schools, foodbanks, community and elected Councillors, pantries and larders, the Citizens Advice Bureau and faith groups to reach those in our communities who most need this help.
The project has delivered thousands of netted bags of seasoned firewood to homes across all corners of Marr, and we now have Log Bank hubs up and running in Alford, Huntly, Braemar, Tap ‘O Noth, Strathdon and Tarland.
We are working closely with the Marr Food Project to position fuel with food provision for those who need support.
The Log Bank project is also grateful for the donation of timber from across Marr. Do contact us if you have timber to donate.
